Thelma's Place: Reviews & Ratings
The food here is so goood. From the cabbage to dressing mac n cheese. The meats are good and seasoned. Ive eaten here 3 times in the last week. And will continue!!
Just stopped in at Thelma’s Place, and I’m glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly—always a good sign. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food? Absolutely fantastic. I went all veggie, and every dish was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Prices are a touch on the high side, but not unreasonable for the quality. It’s clear they’re still ironing out a few small things—it just opened, after all—but the potential here is strong. Definitely one to watch. I’ll be back.
My first time I understand why it was the way it was. It had a long line to the door. People waited patiently for great food. The staff was nice and polite with us rare in this city. I don’t eat out bc of people’s attitude who serve food I’m very energy conscientious about what I put in my body. Food: Greens were good. Black eyed peas were delicious and flavored good. Cornbread was the bomb. Especially with greens. I got baked chicken. Unfortunately they ran out of cranberry sauce. So I didn’t get dressing. Dressing looked so good I hate I missed it. I ordered macaroni and cheese. I wanted some yams but they were out. I ask them to add yam juice on top of macaroni I like the flavor of them both together. I also got some peach cobbler. I’m waiting to eat later one e I get some ice cream. Food is comforting. Thank you!! Keep on showing excellence!! I love supporting black owned businesses. I will come back, too bad I live far.
My husband and I give it an 8/10. It's good down home cooking but I didn't like that our turnips and cabbage were very salty. I got a headache from it. Just tone the seasoning down please. The young lady serving the food wasn't the friendliest, demeanor was dry. The young man who took our payment was very polite, professional, and hospitable. Good job young king! I didn't like that a used food container that someone had left was on a table when we arrived, not something you want to see when you walk in, not a pretty site. It's important to ensure that tables are cleaned off. The decor is nice. Black eyed peas and beef tips are very good. Husband really really enjoyed the chicken and dumplings. Their website is very beautiful and eye catching. May this business be blessed.
So..... this was my/our 1st time @ Thelma's, the welcome was genuine!!! The owner came out and greeted not only us but other customers as well in the dining area!!! We both had oxtail but with different sides. The cabbage was a little salty but would definitely not deter us from going back to Thelma's!!! Great service is rare to come by but you guys executed!!! Thanks
